Red Fort
Red Fort or Lal Quila is one of the important historical constructions in Delhi. Its foundation was laid by Shah Jahan when he shifted his capital from Agra to Shahjahanabad in 1639. Red Fort rises to the height of 33.5m on the town side and 18m alongside the river. The Fort is built of Red sand stone. Some of the interesting places inside the Red Fort are Mumtaz Mahal, Rang Mahal, Khas Mahal, and Diwan – I – aam, Diwan – I – Khas, Hamam and the Shah Burj.
