Humayun Tomb
Humayun tomb is a historical monument which was built by Royal Mughal Empress and Humayun's wife Hamida in 1562 AD. It is the first construction in India to use huge amount of red sand stone and also the first garden-tomb in India. The beautifully designed garden has witnessed the historical legacy of tombs that belong to Hamida and other Mughals. The tomb was designed by an Architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyas from Persia. He was specially invited to visit India and create this master piece called Humayun Tomb. Indian Independence and subsequent partition had led to many refugees taking shelter at the Humayun Tomb; hence it served as a refugee camp for many Muslim refugees. This Persian Architectural marvel stands at the height of 47 mt. high and 300 ft wide till date.
